Students are eligible to receive 3 hours of Illinois elective credit upon completion of each track.

What are LiveLabs and Video Lessons?
The program is broken up into LiveLabs and Video Lessons:
LiveLabs are virtual sessions held once a week and conducted over Zoom with your classmates. Attendance of LiveLab each week is required. You can choose your LiveLab times according to your Track of choice. Seats tend to fill up fast. Make sure you reserve your seat quickly to secure your schedule.
This has been reported to be students’ favorite part of the program, with dynamic and engaged instructors and teaching assistants actively working by your side to help you grasp the material and to implement it in real time.
Video Lessons are high-quality, pre-recorded videos that can be viewed any time — day or night — but you will need to stay on track with your peers. Staying on track helps make the LiveLab sessions even more meaningful.
When are LiveLabs?
Fall 2026 LiveLab Options:
- Tuesdays from 08:00 PM to 09:30 PM (CT)
- Tuesdays from 02:00 PM to 03:30 PM (CT)
- Wednesdays from 05:00 PM to 06:30 PM (CT)
- Wednesdays from 12:00 PM to 01:30 PM (CT)
How will I meet my team?
Our LiveLab instructors and Team Leads have dedicated drop-in hours scheduled each week, making it super easy to ask questions to get extra support.
Your on-campus instructor will hold some in-person and virtual meet-ups to ensure your questions are answered and to give you an opportunity to meet others in the program. These will be arranged around student availability and will occur twice each term.
What equipment do I need?
Hardware
- Desktop or laptop computer (tablets are not compatible)
- Webcam (built-in or external)
- High-speed internet connection
Software
- Windows: 64-bit with Windows 7 or higher
- Mac: 2009 model or later
We will provide all other materials and licensing software.
Do I need to be on campus to take the program?
Nope! The program is fully virtual. You can participate from anywhere.
There will be a few in-person meet ups, but we will find a way to incorporate you into these.
What other benefits are there to participating in this program?
In addition to the high quality instruction, you will be invited to participate in optional design sprints, competitions and experiences (often with cool prizes) that allow you to implement what you are learning and to get some stand out experiences.
